We have always had ducks stopping by the pond in our backyard, however, they never stay. (about a 10 acre pond) SO, we have decided to raise our own ducklings this year. I'm concerned over feed... I have them on DuMor 20% protein chick starter right now with a niacin supplement. (4 are 1 week, the other 2 are 4 days)
I'm reading mixed reviews everywhere online, so decided to come here, (I never even realized there was a spot for other poultry, BYC is my go-to for all chicken related questions, and now will be for the little ducklings too)

Can I leave them on the chick starter with niacin until they are old enough for a layer feed or all-flock (they're unsexed, so we are just going to be surprised), or should I drop them down to 15% at 2 weeks? (I read that somewhere) or drop them down at 8 weeks? (read that somewhere else)

HELPPPP!!!!

If they were mine I would keep them on what you are feeding until they get to laying age, then at laying age you could switch to layer feed or stay with what you're feeding, but add oyster shell on the side.

Mine get a 27% turkey starter because it is a high niacin content and I am too lazy too add niacin daily. :hide
