How do I tell how old they are??

Just got them (8) today at Tractor Supply and they didn't tell me how old they were, just that they had been there about 4 days.

Also how long before they can go out? We have an 'abandoned' chicken coop (we got rid of our roosters today) that they will go in later on. We have to clean out the coop, it is a small coop but held 4 eight month old chickens, they were 2 Delaware, 1 RIR and 1 Plymouth Rock, so I think this coop will hole 1 or 2 of these ducklings when it is time.

Also, what should the temp be in the brooder? I also have 3 chicks in there as well.

I think that is all the questions I have for now. :D

Hard to guess ages, but they may be five days old if the store got them as day-olds. Maybe a week old. There is a recent thread about duckling care not being in the stickies, with good information. You can browse the titles on the first couple of pages. I am on the road with a phone not a laptop so I am somewhat limited for time, but see if you can find that thread. A search on "duckling care " may also help

If they are across the brooder from the heat lamp they are too hot. If they are look cold bring the temp up. If they are sleeping under the lamp they are probably ok.
