Hi all,
I have had chickens for a long time and am familiar with conditions/problems/diseases for them. But I decided to try a couple of ducklings this year and they are greek to me!
The feed store thought they might be mallards, not sure. They are in a brooder with my chicks. They are all 4 weeks old. They are on Flock Raiser food and I supplement a little with treats of rice and beans, greens, etc.
When they were smaller I used to take them out of the brooder about every day for a swim in the tub, but now they are so big, I cannot hold one in each hand. They are very wiggly too. I think the baths/swims will have to wait until they are in the chicken run with a kiddie pool.
Anyway I noticed that one especially has a patch around his eye that is bare. I think the other one has it just not as badly.
I have read about feeding them brewer's yeast and have started this. But I don't know if this is something else. Is this eye mites? Can you help?
Also do you go by the rule of putting them outside with the big boys when they have their feathers, like chickens?
