Ok, Im an animal lover...Ive had horses and did trail rides, I have parrots ...use to have 4 now only 2 due to a new baby in the house, have 7 dogs and 3 cats...and now ducks!!! I also have a flock of 32 chickens....

So Im wanting to name my ducks, like I have everyone else....I have a few chickens that have names....so am I the ONLY ONE????

Im trying to think of names of these new babies...one week old...Pekin and mallards....am told one might not be a mallard...guess time will tell.....

I can see a tail curling on two of them so far....

I have 2 black swedish I named cherry and blossom, and I just picked up a blue swedish today I don't know if it's a he or she yet, so I don't have a name.

Of course you name them!!!! That little grey one is definitely not a mallard! Looks like you have a bantam duck (mallard) Medium weight (Swedish) and a Heavy duck (Pekin). Bet ya the mallard rules the roost!

I know that you are not supposed to name your birds 'cause they are eventually going in the freezer in a couple of years. But all of mine seemed to acquire names without me trying...

Some of my named ones...
Peeper
Peeper-look-alike (poor thing)
Bandy
Roo
Lacey
Nugget
Butter
Louis
Dover
CJ
Corky
CC
Cal (and its a girl)
Nellie & Willie

Well good then Im not the only one and Im not crazy regardless of what honey says!!!

Will any of them fly away?....first time to ducks. and why would the mallard rule? its the smallest....gosh I have alot to learn

so whats the difference between a khaki campbell and a blue swedish?....she/he was the only one in the mallard bin, the woman says no its a mallard some look like that at birth....I got on the net and searched and I did find some not many that were mallards, and the ppl took pics of them as babies and then when grown and they were mallards....

Ive named my chickens, some of them not all;
blue for my blue splash marans
maybelline for a maran that is white with black and gray spots eyes outlined like eyeliner
jewels for one that looks like a wyandotte, laced with gray, bluish feathers
big daddy for my huge leghorn
and on and on.....
