If you are meaning the drake mating the chickens, you need to make sure you have enough females for him. 1 or 2 may be fine for some but other drakes are very aggressive with mating. It is something that you need to be prepared for and have a backup plan in mind in case it is a problem. My ducks and chickens aren't housed together any longer, they weren't raised together but all were 3-4 months old when I got them and they were housed together at first. They tolerate each other but are not fond of each other.RATS hmm how can I stop this![]()
Most all duck breeds would do fine in your climate. I know there are BYCers in Australia that have Muscovy, Runners and I'm sure virtually every breed. I would try to get some ducklings locally as they will be more acclimated to your area instead of getting some shipped from a further area. Regardless, they should be okay. You'll need to make sure that you are able to keep fresh water available at all times ( I don't know how hot you get there)
