Hmmm I think the best time to get chicks would be winter because they’ll be in the brooder all nice and warm through the cold months and then when the warm season comes, they’ll be ready to go outside. Either that or very early spring so they’ll be fully feathered by the time winter comes.
Welcome to the forum and the crazy world of chickens, the only sane place to be! You will find all the information you need to be a successful chicken keeper here!
It usually easiest to find chicks in the spring, but some Hatcheries around the country still may be hatching. Definitely stop by our Learning Center for all kinds of good reading on raising the chicks, building the coop and keeping your adult flock healthy... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/
Oh this is so exciting! The first flock is always the most challenging as you get a feel for the how-to's and get to know your birds, BUT it's also the most rewarding when you get that first egg.
This forum is a great place to help answer any questions or to just engage with other chicken crazy people. Looking forward to seeing you around!
