New to forum and new to birds! (Oklahoma)

:welcome:frow Maybe bantam breeds would be good for you. Seramas are the smallest chicken breed. You will find a lot of good information here BYCArticles.jpgGood luck with your plans and have fun...
The chick in the feed dish is a Serama. There is another Serama chick standing next to the feed dish looking at the chick in the dish.

The Oklahoma City council passed a new ordinance allowing urban chicken and quail in city limits just this morning and I had to join this forum right away. Ever since learning that I was not legally able to keep backyard chicken or quail there was nothing I wanted more, and I'm so excited to finally get started! My coworker is leaning toward chickens, but I'm leaning quail.

I've never had experience keeping birds before, but I've been up to my eyeballs in research and planning. My poor husband can't even make eye contact without getting bombarded with Cool Bird Facts. If anybody in Central Oklahoma would be open to sharing their set up and maybe letting us visit to see how it runs in person, that would be greatly appreciated!
Why not both chickens and quail! :weeWelcome to this fabulous community!

Welcome Dagnabbit. How cool that you have the okay on birds. I'm so glad for you. I was always told no chicks in our town then neighbor built a coop in plain sight! So that's all I needed to go with my plan to have my little backyard flock of 5 hens. They ( chickens) are great but do look at the articles and don't skimp on size of coop , run etc. Ask any questions here, folks are so helpful here.
