My husband and I are first time duck parents and new to the forum. I just wanted to say hello and tell you a little about our 7 'Quackistas' - We have 3 Pekins and 4 Cayugas, they are 5 weeks old and we just love them so much! We received them when they were less then 24 hrs old and they have imprinted on each other as well as with us. We think based on quacks that 2 pekins are female and 2 cayugas, but they are still too young to be sure. They love tomato, grapes, watermelon and bananas the most during snack time with the Cayugas favoring the grapes and the pekins the banana. Of course they love swimming and foraging in the backyard for slugs and other goodies. We are almost finished there outside house but for now they are outside all day in a fenced area and inside at night. Hopefully next week they can begin to live in the coop full time.

Thank you all for being such a great source of knowledge for someone just starting out, this forum is very helpful and has allowed me to stay on top of all types of topics I might have not otherwise thought of. Kind regards

Welcome! I just love this place! I've learned so much, I just get on and read sometimes and find some of the best ideas, everyone is so sharing and helpful. I have 2 cayugas and not sure what they are yet, I'm hoping for one of them to be a female since I originally got them for eggs but they are so much fun to interact with! My ducks are about 6 weeks old. We have them outside all the time now and of course they are put away for the night. They have a fenced in area outside their kennel to keep them safe from our dog who loves to bark at them and watch them run!

Welcome to BYC.

I'm a chicken owner - don't think I'd try ducks. They are cute, just don't know what to do with them. Hubby would probably divorse me. Haha.

Anyway, just wanted to welcome you.
