Hello everyone! My name is Cristin and I live in Arkansas. I liked the question and answer format posted here so I thought I'd use it. I really look forward to meeting and learning from other people who enjoy chicken keeping!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not really new to chickens, but a bit out of practice. I grew up on a farm and ordered chicks every spring when I was a child. It's been years since I've been around them, though, and since our new house has 1/2 acre lot I talked my hubby into letting me keep chickens again!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I just ordered 18 chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
The breeds I ordered (if they aren't substituted) are Partridge Rocks (5 pullets and 2 cockerels), Buff Orpingtons (5 pullets and a cockerel) and Barred Rocks (5 pullets).
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was doing some online research to refresh myself on what is required to keep chickens happy and healthy when I came upon this site.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love reading, writing, playing WoW (an online game), gardening, saltwater aquarium keeping and spending time with my family.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my husband, my 4 year old son, Benjamin, and Henry and Olga, brother and sister border collie mixes who were adopted from the Humane Society. I also have 2 clownfish, 2 gobies and a starfish. Currently I am a housewife but I plan to get a job as soon as my son starts school. I have a B.A. in English (but I'm not a grammar snob, I promise) and, like every good English major, I am writing a novel.
