NEW TO GEESE

Hi. I am and always have been interested in owning geese for pet purposes. I've worked my way up from chickens and ducks and am now looking forward to purchasing my first pair of geese. Any and all comments on the breed (I want CALM ones), eggs and fertility...not so much. and what books to read and where to purchase would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaning towards buffs and dewlap toulouse. but am open for any suggestions. thanks in advance

Buffs are much less expensive to purchase and feed. I love mine. My original buffs came from Metzers Farms.

Dave Holderread wrote a book on geese. He also sells them. Their website is www.holderreadfarm.com. They sold off their American Buffs but they have American Blue and Lavender Ice and they have Dewlap Toulouse. Some of their Buffs went to Metzer.
