New to group from Texas

I have 7 chickens and all are finally laying. But my Amberlink is laying large, super thin shelled eggs- 1 every 3 or 4 days. She is kind of goofy and lays her eggs sitting face first in the nesting box, which ends up ruining some of her eggs by getting stuck. My Isa Browns and RIRs all lay hard eggs at different sizes and eat 16% protein feed with oystershell. I give them meal worms and grit daily. She is huge, about 7 lbs and eats all the time. Has anyone had this happen to their flock?

Good morning, welcome to BYC.
Do you have the oyster shell mixed in with the feed, or is it seperate? It is best to keep it in a seperste dish, so they can take what they need. I would limit meal worms to twice a week. Good luck with your hen!

Have you seen her eating the oyster shell? You can also try giving her a 300-400 mg of calcium citrate daily for a week to see if that helps her.

Hi, increasing her calcium as others have said should help with the thin shells.
