Hi fellow chick enthusiasts. I am new to owning chickens as an adult though my dad raised them when I was little. I recently purchased 7 baby chicks, all female, at TSC. I got 4 different breeds, all will lay brown eggs and full-size. I also have 8 colorful eggs in an incubator. These are an assortment of bantam eggs of various species (Easter egger, silkie, and Americana). When they hatch in a couple of weeks, I want to add the hens to my flock to get those pretty eggs alongside those cute little chickens. :). My question is about a rooster. I want 1 rooster but should I keep one of the bantam roosters?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Since you're hatching silkies, you won't know for three or four months what sex they are, so if you keep those to grow them out, you'll probably wind up with at least one silkie rooster.

We're glad you're here!
