New to hatching Peafowl eggs--Help!

I decided to post this thread by itself--I would really appreciate some thoughts for all of you out there. I have 5 peafowl eggs in my sportsman. I have never hatched peafowl eggs before and these are on 28 days today counting the day I put them in and there is no pipping. I can tell they have developed a good deal but not sure if they are still alive. I have had them the whole time in the incubator and for the first two weeks I turned them by hand 3 times a day, plus of course the turner is on. I can see that all have developed but I really do not see any movement and like I said they have yet to pip. Also, I do not hear anything from them.

I have the humidity up to 70%--is this too low, too high? This is what I hatch my guineas at and it works very well for them.

Also, I have them in a carton at an angle but not flat. I find this works well for my guineas but has anyone hatched peafowl like this? Please any comments are welcome!

You said you hand turned ,but eggs were not on their side.....how did you hand turn ?

Tomorrow would be the hatch date , so hope they pip, humditiy is fine for hatching ,but high for incubation.


I lay mine on the side and hand turn,and auto turn...that help the hatch rate in the sportsman....

I guess I should have made that clearer. I did have them on their side but put them in at an angle for the hatch, small end down. I just raised the humidity so it sound like things might be alright. My fingers are crossed!

I have hatched several different varieties of peafowl and the days run from 26 to 28 days. The breeds with a lot of Java green blood line will hatch in 26. Spauldings, cameo, black shoulder a few examples. The blues take 28. They should have piped by now. Try taking different readings on your thermometer in different spots in your incubator. I have noticed that the GQF cabinet has cooler areas. The temp should be 99.5 and humidity at 50%. The last day I usually put humidity up to 70 or 75%. When they pip its usuallly only a few hours before they are out. They are very strong chicks. Can you candle to see if there is movement in the air cell? There shoud be movement by now.

For those that might be interested--none of my eggs hatched. I cracked them open and found that all of them had a developing chick about the size of a dime, maybe as large as a nickel, but all seemed to die about the same time. Not sure what I did wrong but it was a pretty big bummer. I have 5 more eggs in the sportsman but only one of them looks to be developing.

Maybe I will stick with guinea eggs....

Don't give up! They are a bit harder to hatch then guineas or turkeys. I have heard from some peafowl experts that is you put them the first week under a broody chicken you have better results. I will try that next year.

ok help me here I got 35 IB eggs off craigs list from a man about 90 miles from our home so they were not shipped we very carefully brought them home let them set for 36 hours and then put them in pur cabinet incubator....at 10 days I candled them 2 were not fertile 2 had a blood ring and the rest were growing today at day 15 I rechecked them and they are bouncing all over in there....but now I am freaking out because I have always went by the motto least touched eggs better hatched eggs...and have always had good hatches of chicken eggs....but I have read all over that as well as the automatic turner I should be turning them..and I havent

does this mean its to late to start turning this?

or should I stay with my tried and true.....they are not on their sides even they are little side down just like a chicken egg....but they are bouncing all over should I lay them on their sides now....helpppppppppppppppp
