New to hatching pls help

A chick buddy helps at least with chickens. But if more than one hatches then having a chick already isn’t necessary. I’ve had one chick hatch at a time and they figure out how to drink and eat. If more than one hatches they show each other. Or you can show them and they teach other. And for a still air incubator you want it to run a little hotter than 99.5. At least I know I do with my still air one.

Ok thanks :) taht saves me the cost of buying a chick lol

Ok well right now it's at 99.8 - 100.2. i have no idea what the actual temp is bc I'm using an infrared thermometer which reads a different temp every time 🤔

Maybe it depends where you point the thermometer? I’ve never used an infrared one so I have no idea. But I think that’s why still air incubators are supposed to run warmer. To prevent cool spots. Since the air isn’t circulating it just sit there.

Makes sense. My dad told me to hold it closer to it to get better temp reading
