from Ohio. So glad you joined. After 12 yrs of having a variety of roos for my DD showing them, I finally sold the last one. It is rather nice not being awakened at 4am.
I have a small flock of hens and we lost 2 of our orignal ladies to a dog attack after the mutts dug under my fence and got them while they were free-ranging! I sometimes wish I had had a BIG MEAN ROO to have taught those dogs what it means to trespass!!
But, then I probably would have lost him too
We have only pullets and for now that works.
I think the advice given and the stories told here have totally convinced me, I don't need a roo!!
Looks like you have gotten a lot of pros and cons...I have had roosters that are great and roosters that caused a lot of problems...good luck with whatever you decide.
