I think I'll be content on the 3, but I do see myself wanting to expand the run to give them more room to roam.
 
Welcome from Southern California! Yeah, I only wanted six when I started out and now I have 13. They are addicting, and there's lots to learn so you are in the right place. I, too, like to be as green as possible so I strongly recommend organic feed should you be purchasing feed/scratch for your girls. It costs about three times as much as non-organic, but I'm totally opposed to GMOs so we bite the bullet and pay for it. Just my .02.
