New to incubating please help

I am rudely jumping in here!

I also miscalculated my hatch date by 24 hours. Instead calculating from when I received the eggs. So I thought they would hatch yesterday morning and was sadly haunting the incubator all day yesterday and this morning. Noticed a peep and a pip yesterday and then....nothing. Left the house for a couple of hours and I have a chick! Hopefully that means there will be more. Standard Splash Black or Blue cochins. Hopefully the hollering the first is making will spur the others onward. Nothing sadder than a failed hatch-all that self blame, etc.

Good luck, stay calm....oh and same to you!

Glad to read it is not just me that is nervous with the incubator. This is the first time I have used this one ( only had one part successful hatch with a borrowed baton before). I now haven Maino enrico me4a. Set the eggs today., it says in the instructions that the eggs need to point end down? I think the weight of the eggs is stopping the turning ...... Is this possible does anyone know? I am trying to watch it but I am not there all the time ( they are not at home). The temp is constant at 37.6 but I am finding difficult to regulate the humidity. Does any one know what range will be ok for the first 18 days and from tomorrow I will not be able to check it every couple of hours. I am trying to keep it around 45% After lockdown I think it needs to upped to 65%. Is this right? Any help would be useful. Thanks. No doubt I will have more questions before I have done..

I set 50 eggs, just taken 10 out as I think the weight of the eggs is stopping the turning mechanism working properly. I think it is moving the whole tray, not just the racks. Anyone else had this problem?

woke up to another chick mostly dry and standing. another pipped. This is a funny hatch quite spread out. It is funny the six polish I hatched all hatched together and have not stopped doing everything together since and they are almost grown. The one cochin I hatched previously is much slower-a crybaby with his foster mom-needed help up the last step to the coop-very slow to feather. LOVE THEM! Have to work-good thing! Fingers crossed for more. 2/7 so far with at least one almost hatched. It is going to be hard to type at work with my fingers crossed. Toes!

did you candle the eggs at any point along the way to see if there was any development?

Not during lockdown but in the first 18 days yesand the last time i candled was day 18 and the eggs looked to be almost full so there must have been almost fully developed chicks in there

those little ones should have at least pipped by now, wonder what the deal is. i don't know but if you have quite a few in there and can spare one i would pull one out and open it up and see whats going on. is there any bad smells coming from the incubator?
