New to Incubating!

cherndon - what kind of bator did you get? Is it still air or forced fan? Remember, those require different temp readings. Still air s/b 101-102 and forced fan s/b around 99.5. Hope your eggs arrive safely and you have a great hatch.

Hi again, Jody!! You should know how I should set my bator!! Still waiting on the eggies...Can't wait!

I would aim for 101 measured at the top of the eggs for still air..this way if it goes up a little, you won't have to panic.

OMG..are those eggs still not there? What the heck are they doing with them? Now I'm getting worried as the majority of packages arrive in 2-3 days at most. Did you call your PO?

Okay, Jody...MY turn to panic! I got the eggs, unpacked them...NONE broken!!! YEA!! I have the cartons at a 35 degree angle...Do the eggs go fat side up? And, of course, how long should I wait to put them in. They're not even cold! My son is SO excited!! Me too, but I'm so nervous to do everything JUST right!!

Thank goodness they're there. No need to panic. Let them come to room temperature for several hours. No rush and make sure the bator is at the right temp/humidity. When you put the eggs in, do not change anything on the bator. It will cool down and reheat slowly as the eggs come up to temp. Do not make any adjustments for 24 hours. Yes, big end up. Sounds like you're just about set to incubate. Good luck!

I'm excited for you!
We're hatching eggs for the first time too. Out of 12 we've got one chick, one zip, and two pips. My daughter is dancing around the house then going back to her little chair by the bator.
Even my husband is saying this is a lot more fun than he was expecting

I'm hoping DH will get more into it! He teases me about having issues because I LOVE all animals so much!
Good luck!!

Ok...Got a hygrometer (all they had was springfield) so going to let it adjust and see where I'm at!
