I'm having hatching on day 19-20 myself. Put chicks on lockdown Wednesday. Heard peeping last night, peeked in, and there were several eggs pipped. Heard chicks peeping all night. Woke up this morning and we have two chicks, 33 more eggs to go! Lol (although when I candled at 17 days, it only appear I have 19, alive and fully developed. This is my first hatch since I was a kid! And of all nights my 3 year old wanted to stay with her nana, we end up starting to get chicks!

. Yes chicks can survive up to 3-4 days after hatching. They live off the yolk sac they absorb during hatching. I don't remove them from the incubator until hatch is over which can be a good 48 hours sometimes. Also the chicks that have hatched encourage the eggs to start hatching.
