New to incubating!

I'm having hatching on day 19-20 myself. Put chicks on lockdown Wednesday. Heard peeping last night, peeked in, and there were several eggs pipped. Heard chicks peeping all night. Woke up this morning and we have two chicks, 33 more eggs to go! Lol (although when I candled at 17 days, it only appear I have 19, alive and fully developed. This is my first hatch since I was a kid! And of all nights my 3 year old wanted to stay with her nana, we end up starting to get chicks!

lol, hopefully she can catch some of the others hatching. I woke up to 4 this morning with 22 to go. Just wondering how long is too long to leave them in there while waiting on the others. It is pretty exciting for sure

Hi congrats on your chicks both of you . Yes chicks can survive up to 3-4 days after hatching. They live off the yolk sac they absorb during hatching. I don't remove them from the incubator until hatch is over which can be a good 48 hours sometimes. Also the chicks that have hatched encourage the eggs to start hatching.

Congrats on the hatch! How many have you got now? With the Brinsea I found I can quickly remove the hatched chicks without losing too much humidity in the incubator, but you have be as quick as you can.

Well, 18 have hatched out so far. It was pretty cramped inside so yesterday I quickly removed 14 that were nice and fluffy and dry. Now on day 22 I have 4 chicks inside and 9 left to hatch. I think by the end of the day I may remove the last four and candle the last 9 eggs. Crossing fingers that I didn't loose them, hoping they are late developers. Either way I am very happy with the hatch considering I just took the eggs from the coop and put them in. I am really loving the incubator. I am very happy that I decided to go with this brand and model. The temp always holds steady and when I have had to open it the humidity climbs back p quickly. I may just fill it back up again this week
