Hello from IL! I am new to everything about Chickens. I am a hubby to one, and mommy to four. I am a teacher and pastor's wife. My friends often think I am a "Crunchy Granola Nut Job" and you can imagine their head shaking as I recently fulfilled a dream of raising chickens myself.
I currently have 12 babies living here. A local teacher hatched them from a "heavy breed assortment" and they are now twelve and thirteen days old. I plan to only be keeping 4-6 hens for eggs, and someone else will be taking the remainder of the gang.
I am enjoying the fun, but I figured it would do me a lot of good to meet people who know a whole lot more about this than me!
