My drake flock is unbelievably noisy!!! The pekins are chattering away all day and if they hear me in the house or see me, the noise is defening -- and the muscovies join in. Actually one of the muscovy is the look out for me: he spends all day looking in my patio doors and sounds the alert whenever he spots me.that's my problem too! Noise! That's why I think just the one little drake would be alright! Wouldn't be so loud. I'd love seeing a little drake running with my girls
And yes I love my ducks chattering too!
They do what I call a "laugh" when they get super excited, it's loud and chatty and I just love it!
The rest of the time they're quiet, they only properly quack if they're mad at me for not getting food fast enough etc.
My son has females and one shouts when she is alarmed -- mainly the first thing in the morning at the sighting of a feral rooster. His other pekin is the noisiest little girl imaginable but she only shouts when she hears me coming. It's not all day like my drakes, shouting all day. His muscovy has started squeaking like a rubber ducky, but she isn't loud about it. The girls are just not in the same league as my boys!!!
