New to me chickens haven't been laying for me

Hi everyone. So I'm new at all of this. I have 17 week old pullets at home but we're just given (2) one year old hens from someone moving that couldn't keep them. This was about a week ago and they still haven't laid any eggs for me yet. I was told they lay already. Is this odd? How long do you think it will take or am I doing something wrong?

I too am new @ chickens; however, my research suggests and friends I know personally say it can take weeks or months for new chickens to start laying again once rehomed.

Good advice from TheGooch.

Moving house can stress them out, new environment, change in feed.
Joining an existing flock can be even more stressful.
If they are just 12 months old, they may start laying again soon,
if they are more like 18 months old they may go into their first annual molt soon.
