I purchased a started pullet in mid-February, a Lavendar Orpington. I was told she was already laying. However since having her, she only laid once; a tiny egg. Then it seems she started molting. I was told she was about 6/7 months old in February, so she’s probably now, 9/10 month old. How long does the molting last. It’s my first time experiencing this. And is it unusual for a 6/7 month old chicken to molt and molt in the winter?? I’m ready for her to lay, I have two others and didn’t want to wait 6 months for chicks to start laying and now… I probably should have just gotten chicks. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
Picture 1 is her when I first got her and second photo is a few weeks ago…her neck feathers are growing back.

Be patient and let her molt. It took 1 full month to my 1 year old hens to start laying after I brought them home and they weren't even molting. I was about to turn them into soup. Now they lay almost every day.
