Covid hit and we knew it was time to become more self sufficient... what better way than to buy chickens?! I bought 5 Heritage Rhode Island day old chicks from a local farmer. Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme and Dill. Dill died almost right away. I have no idea why. Almost 10 weeks later now and I'm guessing we have 1 roo and 3 hens. I honestly don't know. I only know we have 4 new pets that we love. I had no ideas you could love chickens! They have a lovely run and barn built by my hubby.... but we're already discussing how to add on so we can have more chickens. I also have a giant aging labradoodle and help raise my 2 year old grandson, who tells jokes like "why is Tigger in the toilet?" Cue laughter for 5 minutes..."lookin' for Pooh!" Covid has changed our lives here and created fear, new habits... but it also brought 4 sweet pets into our world.
