New to Peacock Keeping

I'm looking to purchase a few peacocks within the next few months and was wondering if I can let them roam free in my backyard? Is this possible without them flying away?

Peafowl are beautiful birds but I've never raised them. The link sumi gave you will take you where you can get some good advice.

I think peafowl are usually kept in large pens with wire over the top to keep them inside. I know some go awol because I've read of numerous members finding a peacock in their yard, that decides to live with their chickens. I don't think peafowl people just dump males the way some irresponsible chicken folks do., so I'm guessing they are escape artists.

You may want to post on "Canadians, check-in-here." It would be much better if any bird you purchase doesn't have to be shipped, and I would imagine, go through customs.
