Hi :welcome from Yorkshire!

Glad you could join us here! It seems you are pretty much set to go with your quail. I hatched and raised some, they were fab little birds to keep. I would recommend that you get a water station for them as with a bowl they may tip it up because I'm sure they will jump on it  something like this would be ideal ~

I would also recommend you put your ark somewhere safe or really peg it down as predators could easily knock it over. Do you have foxes etc in your area?

Good luck with your quail and please do pop the U.K. Thread to say hello ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655508/uk-member-please-say-hi/0_30

Enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

It's nice to have you here, hope you enjoy the little ones!

I have mine in rabbit hutches off the ground, and use rabbit water bottles on the outside of the cage as to not take up more floorspace. They were quick learners and now love their bottles, and it's easier to keep them watered that way.

As mentioned above, be very careful of predators with them being on the ground. I recently lost 2 of mine because the door came unhinged and 2 came out at some point during the day, and my dogs found them and turned them into snacks. They're fragile little birds with lots of things that would like to eat them.

That's a great idea with rabbit water bottle :highfive:

It was one of my dogs who killed one of my quail too :( She actually got a hold of one through the wire on the ark, I found her death rolling it on the lawn :hit
I moved them after that and even put another run around the ark but she was obsessed with them by then and was on kill mode. It's strange as she never ever bothered about the chickens even small chicks she was very good with but quail were a whole different ball game with her. In the end I rehomed the quail for their sake and her sanity!

I plan to build an Aviary in the summer. But my local Quail breeder only has 4 hens. So I thought I'd start small I'd like to get ten or so if I enjoy them as pets and egg layers. I just wanted to know how to imitate their natural habitat and the best bedding etc I'm using hay I normally use for my Gerbils. Picking them up tomorrow night.

Hello there, and welcome to the community! I am pleased you could join us, I do hope you will make yourself at home here and enjoy yourself here as much as I have! :frow
