New to raising Buff Orps and Barred Rock

Hello!

I have four BO chicks whose are two weeks old (I incubated them) and I already adore them! I’m thinking of adding a few more chickens to the group and like what I read about Barred Rock.

First time chicken wrangler and very pleased to find a community to connect with!

Welcome!! I have a BO as well and she is my sweetest girl! Always comes to me and checks in! Such a sweet breed! Enjoy your chicks!

Hello!

Welcome! We have 1 barred rock mix named Cupcake, he/she has an awesome personality! I hatched 12 chicks (all mixed) March 30 but could only keep 4 (I already have 7 chickens in my existing 2-yr old flock)! Some of my favorite breeds are Cochin, Brahma, Orpington (lavenders are super pretty), RIR, Plymouth Rock (barred is 1 of many varieties!) I attached few pix of Cupcake- my kids love this 9 wk old sweetie! They still sleep in our garage because they’re spoiled and we love it! Have fun growing your flock!

Hi and welcome to BYC! We're glad you joined us! I have both buff Orpingtons and barred Rocks in my flock. They're wonderful birds. The barred Rocks are the friendliest of them all.
