So we started raising chickens this past year. We bought eight red sex link and three Americana. The eight red sex links we bought as chicks and raise them since March it’s now December. They have been laying eggs every day for us and they’re wonderful girls and they’re loving and all have a different personality. The three americanus have been wonderful to. We bought those three Murray McMurray and we had them shipped to us when they were 19 weeks old. Unfortunately one of our Americanos passed away last night we are unsure why. The three Americanos started molting about four weeks ago and they came out yesterday afternoon to find her dead on the ground. Anyone has any ideas as to what could’ve happened suggestions would be great. She didn’t appear to have any symptoms of being sick but she was very thin and her mood changed and she ate that morning out of my hand and nothing got a hold of her as a predator that we could see. Is it too soon for the Americana to be mulching? They’re not even a-year-old yet. So happy to be a part of backyard chickens. Looking forward to meeting other people with chicken and sharing ideas
