I'm new to raising chickens. I live in the Phx area and would like to be able to let them roam in the backyard for a few hours each day. (naturally with me standing guard). At what age can I clip one of their wings to keep them in the yard? They are now 14 weeks and doing great. They are White Leghorns if that info is required.

Thanks.

Yes they did very much. I still am puzzeled as to when would be too young to clip their wings. Is 14-15 weeks old enough?
Thanks again for your time in responding.

I think that would be okay. You'll have to do it again in a month or two I'd think. I clipped one of them three times in a month to no avail. I gave up. I covered the run. She would just flap her wings and walk right up the chicken wire and out she went.

Everyone knows what's best for their flock. Don't ever let anyone tell you different.

Again, thanks for your time and expertise. It's really nice to know that there is a site of people helping people. Best to you.
