New to Raising Chickens in Colorado

Welcome! Your new flock is already acclimated to winter, and will have the worst part of the winter behind them by the time you take over! Chickens are quite resilient. As long as they have dry and draft free, but well ventilated housing, they will do just fine.

I wonder if the past owners would just give you a brief outline of their daily care so you can follow the routine . Chickens are sensitive to changes and it takes some while for them to feel safe again.

Yes it is miserably cold but your soon to be chickens have dealt with the weather in the past and will be just fine. Mine have spent the past 3 days in the coop barely getting off the roosts. Tomorrow with a high of 45, they will be anxious to get outside Mine live in a horse stall so no creature comforts and they are fine. $pending some time with the seller to learn her routine is a great idea. You will also put her mind at ease that her girls will be in good and caring hands.
