New to raising chickens myself

Welcome to BYC. Yes, they can keep the females from laying, due to stress, if you have too many in the main flock. If you can seperate them from the females, until you can rehome them, it would be best. Its always good to have a backup rooster though, so if you have a couple that get along well, and are good to the hens, keeping two is a good plan.

Separate all males and keep the best one. Rehome the 3 and release the keeper once the pullets start laying. That's when they'll be ready for him.
