We just got 6 baby chicks from TSC a week ago today. There was 4 bantams 1 pullet and 1 cornish rock. The bantams said straight run and the other 2 female. I wanted all different colors so I could tell them apart. I decided to get them for eggs and to help with bugs in my backyard. the Saturday after I brought them home one was dead an all black bantam. So now I have 5. I have been reading posts and trying to learn everything I can about raising them.

Hello, and welcome to BYC from Ohio. Your Cornish Rock chick is a meat chicken, and she will grow very large. She may not be able to survive very long, because those chickens are genetically engineered to grow very large, very quickly, and so they often cannot support their own large bodies.....I would exchange that chick for another if it's possible.

The bantams will lay small eggs, but they are just fine to eat. I'm wishing you good luck and I hope you have little bantam hens!
