Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and new to raising chickens. Today my order came in and i picked up the chicks from the post office. Originally i ordered 5 rhode island reds and 5 white plymouth rocks i ended up receiving 7 rir and 6 white ones. So thats great heres a picture of how i have them set up for now. Id like to know if anyone has any other suggestions on how i can keep them growing and keep them comfortable in their home for now.thank youuu

The Learning Center has loads of really good advice and tips on raising chickens, so be sure to make a turn there. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions, the folk on this site who have helped me have all been very gracious and patient.

Glad you joined us and look forward to hearing more about your flock.

Welcome! I raised my first batch of chicks starting in February and they have just started laying eggs this month, so I am new too but have learned a few things so far.

Here are my 2 little general tips for you that feel like were helpful from my experience.

1) Your little chickies are going to grow fast! Be thinking about what you'll do when they need more space than they have now.

2) Don't fret too much. With mine, I measure their brooder temp constantly and worried about every little thing they did. Too cool is better than too hot, and you'll know if they are too cool by the way they crowd under the heat light. They are pretty hardy overall.

Good luck and have fun!
