I have just begun raising coturnix and have been lurking on this site and I have gleaned so much valuable information I thought it right to Thank everyone.
I live in southern AZ and have 12 ~7 week old birds and 12~ 4 week olds in two separate pens. One pen is 4x8x2 and the other is 4x4x2. I just received my first egg yesterday. What fun it is to watch these birds.
Thank you all
Doug

Glad to have you on the forums! (Any pictures of your birds/eggs/setup would be very welcome here.)

They do. I have a fan on them, pan with water and frozen water bottles. It’s been in the 90s and so far they have been ok.
It only took me a few days to build them and yes the hardware cloth is terrific. I used some 1” chicken wire on the smaller pen on two sides. It seems to be ok. Both pens are inside a 10x10x6 dog kennel. We have to many bobcats and coyotes

Doug, if I were you, i would rewire the 2 sides with hardware cloth as well. Bobcats can rip right through the chicken wire, if they find a way into the dog kennel.
Other than that, nice looking pens.

Good point. I ran short on the hardware cloth and had some of the chicken wire. Needed to get the birds more space. I’ll get mor HC and shore it up.
Thanx for the tip
