New to raising quail

Well one thing that is extraordinary interesting and useful about quail is that they have a much faster life cycle. This translates to you being able to learn a lot fast and get into it, where duck and chicken people have to wait up to 6 to 8 months before they can get eggs or reproduce the birds. But with quail its much less than that.

This will help you to get a fast introduction to poultry and producing birds, and open up a lot of your mind to them very early on. (Assuming you keep them alive, haha.) And one of the best things is that the skills are transferrable. You'll still have to learn how different birds are different, but after you've got the basics you could adapt to other types of meat or egg production birds later with a bit more ease if you wanted to. However usually quail people are very happy with just staying with quail.

I'm not sure what kind of quail you got, but the coturnix (japanese) quail are particular popular.
