New to Silkies

Thank you everyone. Even though they are hatchery quality, is the female still likely to go broody?

My silkies were purchased simply for enjoyment and to add some diversity to my flock. I was not looking for a "show" bird.

For some reason, my hatchery silkies haven't gone broody yet.

I'm sure yours will though.

My other silkies make great broodies.

I've seen one non-bearded with a really nice crest--beautiful bird! Unfortunately rather uncommon to be as nice in quality as the bearded birds.

Are you leaving the eggs? Many birds, especially young ones won't go broody without eggs. They build their clutchover the course of a couple of weeks. Let the eggs build up and chances are pretty good that she may decide "it's time."
