Hi! We are new to this site and to raising chickens, and I was hoping someone might be able to help us out. If you move chickens from one coop to another will they start the pecking order all over again? I ask because we moved our two hens into a new space, and the one who we were sure was dominant, allowed the other hen to pull out a whole bunch of her feathers! When we put them back in their old pen, she stopped picking and didn't do it again??? We are worried about the number of feathers she pulled out in a short time, don't want to take any chances if something is wrong. Thanks in advance for any advice!

. I have found that this is normal. Whenever they are moved to a new location it is stressful, so I'm not surprised the non-dominate one picked on the other... It just takes some time and they will sort it all out. I'd keep an eye on them just to make sure. It's also a good idea to move them to a new place at night, when they are groggy.

Good luck.
