I wanted to make my introductions. I am new to this site and also new to raising chickens. We had chickens when I was a child but I wasn't involved in the process but I recently decided I wanted to raise my own for meat and eggs. I have about 70 right now of various breeds and they are almost 5 weeks old. I am very happy to say that I have not lost any birds so far. Many of them will walk up to me and want me to touch them or hold them. The other day I was checking their food and water when one of the Australorps walked up and kept brushing against my hand and wanting attention. I have one bird in particular that is very bold and no matter what is happening I can count on it to be the first chick to check something out. When I first got them I have to admit I had some fears and doubts about my abilities but as time has gone by I am realizing that I can give them what they need.
I have learned quite a bit from this site and hope to contribute when I've learned a bit more.
