New to the Chicken Family

I am soon to be retiring to my 15 acre homestead in the U.P. of Michigan. I want to be able to raise and share my spoils with friends and neighbors. I know people who raise chickens but want access to as much information as possible.
Our climate is cold, snowy with lots of predators. Average snow fall 200+ inches, temps -40 to 20.
There is soo much I want to learn to make this a positive experience!!
