Hello everyone!
I am just getting into the backyard chicken game and I need some advice on building my coop. I plan on getting 3 hens (I am only allowed 6 where I live) and no roosters. We are planning on a 4x4 coop with one nesting box. My real question is the floor. I live in northern california so our weather is pretty mild. I have been studying a beautiful coop that a local restaurant has and they use hog wire for the flooring, is this a good idea for mine? I was planning on having my coop a foot off the ground so I could rake and clean the poop that fell through. I was thinking that hog would be ideal for cleaning, but like I said I am new and could use advise. I also read on another website that the chickens MUST have litter is this true? Thank you in advance for any words of wisdom you might have!
So excited to get started!!
