New to the Chicken Game

Welcome to BYC. Make sure to add your location to your profile so it will show up under your avatar. We'd love to see pics of your girls. We never tire of chicken, coop & pet pictures. How many Isa Browns do you have? I have 6 Red Sex Links. They are really sweet & great layers. (Although there was a lot of feather picking as juveniles)

My wife and I are new to the chicken game. Got our first chickens back in August 2017 (end of August to be specific). They are ISA browns and started laying Jan 1 2018. They were free range until they kept jumping my neighbors fence. They would come back, but... Anyway they now have 100 SQ run for 7 of them and a coop to go up in at night. I really enjoy watching them, working on the coop, getting eggs, sharing them with my neighbors, and automating the boring stuff. I have been considering getting more chickens and trying to start selling the eggs. I need a lot more education and time to get to know the process. I don't really have a plan weather full free range, organic, etc. For now I will enjoy the flock i have. Really friendly birds, let me pet and handle them. Follow me around like a lost puppy, kind of funny.

G’Day from down under Farmer_White :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

As Hamian mentioned, if you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
