Thinking about raising chickens in the beautiful Lake Tahoe area! What is the minimal amount of chickens you can have and still get some eggs? 6?

You can have any number of chickens and still get some eggs, as long as they are hens. If you want 6 eggs a day then you should get 6 chickens. Although, this would change depending on the breed you want. Some breeds lay 7 eggs a week, some lay 6 a week, some even lay just 3 or 4 a week.

1 will get you eggs but not many. The average number of chickens is one per household member but check your locations zoning if needed. I have 11 chicks myself. And only 5 people in my house.
