New to the Chicken World

I am brand new to chickens, well, at least owning my own. I've had my 6 little chicks for about 2 weeks now. My little flock includes 1 Amberlink, 2 Australorp, 2 ISA Brown, and 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte. I've really been enjoying the closeness that these little girls have brought to my family. We each have our own special chick and my kids love to just hang with them. I'm hoping they grow up to be both a great pet while providing eggs.

How did I find BYC...through a good friend who has a flock of her own and absolutely loves it. She recommended this site and even before we purchased our flock I was already researching what I needed and wanted. Now to get that coop built!!

It’s amazing how much joy having chickens brings. I’ve wanted them since I was a child. Finally about 10 years ago we got our first batch. Which all ended up being roosters by the way. Another story for another day. My husband said and I quote. If I had known they gave you so much pleasure I would’ve gotten you chickens long ago...
