Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am new to chickens, have actually been referred here by several of my forum buddies on doberman chat who also raise chickens. I have spent quite some time researching and reading and finally convinced my fiance it was a good idea to try. We picked up 6 chicks Thurs evening (3 silikes, 1 ISA brown and 2 Red hybrids (mix of Rhode Island Red and New Hampshire Red) I just love their little personalities already! I am very excited to start this new venture and learn as much as I can, so any information or tips is graciously welcomed! We plan on only keeping 3, so were hoping at least 3 of these little guys are hens, as we are not allowed to have roosters (nor do we particularly want one anyway!) My ex husband has a large coop and several acres, so he will be taking any roosters or extra hens if we end up with more than 3 hens.

Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.
