Yes, lumber prices have been quite scary the past two years, but like @NFC said there are resources out there to save money on your coop and run build. Just make sure you have everything built before you get your chickens, Shipping delays are a real PITA when you're in the middle of building and your flock is over running your house.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! Saw one at Agri supply today that was over $400. I figured to be sure I could build one for that!!

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, the current price of new building materials is ridiculous! Your $400.00 wont go far if you want a sizeable coop that is predator proof. Best of luck.

I agree. Get some prices on the materials before you build. You will be surprised. You will find a lot of good information here Good luck and have fun...
