This is my first forum/chat experience, and my second season with the chicks. I started with thirty last year, free ranging and have only two roosters (Bucky and Chuck) left. That is thanks mainly to the family dog...a very stubborn American Bulldog. I've just gotten the brooder ready and can't wait to get a new batch of Reds for eggs and fun!! I'm also interested in trying anther breed good for setting/motherhood.
I'm staying near my four grandkids and they just love the chicks and "help" out every chance they can get.
I do have one question that will assist in improving the mortality of my flock and that is, "Is there some method to use that will prevent flight other than clipping the wings?"
I've gotten some good advice for training the dog (i hope)
but I would like to assist her however I can to resist her urge to kill.
