Oh yeah normally we can catch him from grabbing them but if we don't go out with him we'll its a nightmare....now there is also a possibility that this is the work of another dog in the neighborhood but I can be certain...the day this happened the cameras we have out back were down for repair! Regardless all I want is for her to get better!Welcome to BYC.
Regarding your other post:
I would keep the puppy away from the chickens until he is trained not to chase them. And definitely trained not to pick them up in his mouth. He may not be trying to harm them, but he obviously will.

A fully enclosed run would probably be your best defense.
