New to the site

I am new to the site. I am investigating the possibility of getting laying hens. Wanted to get some more info to make sure I start out right. I am in Northern Alabama

How exciting! This is the best place to research chickens! I would just make sure to start out with a bigger coop than you think you need; prefab coops don't usually cut it. (The specs usually say they can fit more chickens than they actually can.) You'll see how the chicken-math works and be grateful you gave yourself more room.) Welcome to BackYard Chickens!
