I finished building a coop in January for my 15yo who had joined 4H. It was a slow build....after work....on weekends as time allowed. This is the end result. We started with 6 chickens...then added 4 more...but through attrition (explained in my welcome post) we're down to 7. 4 red sexlinks, either 2 easter eggers and 1 blue laced gold wyandotte or the other way round. We'll be adding 4 cuckoo marans to the flock mid-April.
Everything is solar due to the distance from the house in our yard. There are 2 wifi PTZ cameras (1 in the roost and 1 in the run), there is an automatic door and 1 solar motion activated light in the run. They all have their own little panels at this time. I'm considering repurposing a larger 100w panel and battery I have to run all of them instead.
I have a rain barrel now but have yet to install the gutters to collect the rainwater. This will supply a water trough for them with a level control device.
