Hello I am from southern il my wife kids and I just got some new chickens from a friend so I've been on here reading and looking for some help we have 7 hens 1 rooster in a old shed I turned into a coop so I'll probably be asking for a lot of advice thanks

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your new additions to the family :frow Do you know what breed they are? Great you were able to reuse a shed and turn it into a coop for them.
Have you checked out the learning centre? Lots of super articles on all aspects of keeping them happy and healthy. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Be sure to ask all the questions you need to, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy your new chickens and BYC :frow

Welcome to the Byc flock. You may want to check out the coop section to see what essentials a good coop should have - for one thing ample ventilation backed by hardware cloth so no critters can sneak inside.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaugher (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thelma is very pretty; and the pullet she's holding is a Black Australorp. Australorps are a very calm and gentle breed, and my children and granddaughter made lap pets of ours. :o)
